Lares is an alternative route for those who normally cannot do the traditional Inca trail because they do not reserve at least with 6 months in advance.
However, it is one of the most beautiful roads that lead to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the famous town of Machu Picchu.

DAY 1: CUSCO - HUACA CASI PASS - LARES HOT SPRINGS - HUACAWASI Our exciting tour begins early in the morning, at 5:00 am, when we leave the historic city of Cusco in a comfortable bus, which will take us to the magical destination of Lares. During this trip, we will encounter several treasures in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, from fascinating archaeological sites to colorful craft markets that will immerse us in the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Our first stopping point is the province of Calca, located at an altitude of 2940 meters (9646 feet) above sea level. From here, we will head towards the Abra de Huaca Casi, a imposing elevation of 4,400 meters (14,436 feet) above sea level, from where we can marvel at the panoramic views of the majestic landscapes that surround us. We will then descend to the relaxing thermal baths of Lares, located at 3200 meters. (10,499 feet) above sea level. Here, we will have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the waters rejuvenating, whose temperatures range between 28 and 36 degrees Celsius (82 and 97 degrees Fahrenheit), giving us some well-deserved rest and relaxation after our adventures. After enjoying a delicious lunch, we will continue our journey to Huacawasi, located at an altitude of 3,600 meters (11,811 feet) above sea level. This picturesque town will be our temporary home, where we will set up camp and prepare to live unforgettable experiences in the middle of nature. We will rest here.

DAY 2: HUACAWASI - ABRA DE IPSAY - PATACANCHA The second day of our adventure is, without a doubt, one of the most spectacular and enriching the trip. After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we embark on a exciting four-hour hike that will take us through amazing landscapes and imposing mountains until reaching the Ipsay pass, located at an altitude of 4400 meters (14436 feet) above sea level. On our way to the Abra de Ipsay, we will have the unique opportunity to visit some local families who have developed impressive skills in agriculture and design
​
textile. These communities, inspired by the beliefs and traditions of the Andean gods, They will receive with hospitality and allow us to enter into their way of life, sharing with us his wisdom. After this enriching cultural experience, we will continue our journey towards the charming town of Patacancha, located at an altitude of 3650 meters (11975 feet) above the sea ​​level. In this picturesque place, we will establish our base camp, surrounded by the Andean mountains and the serenity of the natural environment. Climate: cold. Walking time: 6-7 hours.

DAY 3: PATACANCHA - WILLOQ - PUMAMARCA - OLLANTAYTAMBO - AGUAS CALIENTES The third day of our journey promises to be as spectacular as the previous ones, full of fascinating explorations and discoveries. We embark on an exciting excursion that will take us through diverse communities and indigenous peoples, each with its own wealth cultural and natural beauty. Our first stop will be in the picturesque village of Willoq, located at an altitude of 3400 meters (11,156 feet) above sea level. We will continue our trip to Pumamarca, located at 3,200 meters (10,499 feet) above sea level, another charming corner where We will be able to appreciate the traditional architecture and the living history of the Andean people. Thence, We will head towards Ollantaytambo, a historical site that is considered the last stronghold of the Incas. Here, we will explore the impressive Inca ruins, marveling at the skill architecture of this ancient civilization and the beauty of its surroundings.

After our visit to Ollantaytambo, we will head towards the mysterious city of Aguas Calientes, located at an altitude of 2,050 meters (6,726 feet) above sea level. To get there, we will take a train that will give us panoramic views of the landscapes that surround the area. In Waters Warm, we will spend the night in a hotel, where we can rest and recharge our batteries to the exciting adventures that await us in the legendary citadel of Machu Picchu up to date following. Climate: moderately warm. Walking time: approx. 6 hours.

DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO Early in the morning, our guide will be waiting for you at the hotel to accompany you to the bus station, where we will board the vehicle that will take us to the Archaeological Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. The bus tour lasts approximately 25 minutes and is the conventional route to reach the Inca citadel. Once in the historic sanctuary, we will begin our tour. We will explore the ancient vestiges, Inca architecture and engineering. The tour of the Machu Picchu Citadel lasts between 2 and 3 hours, allowing you to learn more deeply about the richness of this unique place. It is important to keep in mind that visiting time is currently limited, so we will take advantage of every moment. ​ After the tour, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have time to have lunch and explore the charming town, full of restaurants and craft shops. Later, we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our transportation will take you back to your hotel in Cusco, marking the end of our unforgettable 4-day trek from Lares to Machu Picchu. RECOMMENDATIONS: Bring your passport or identification document. Arrive at the train station half an hour early and present your ticket and identification document. Carry in a small backpack, a camera, a sun hat, sunscreen, mosquito repellent and a bottle of water. In Machu Picchu you will climb steps, wear appropriate shoes for walking, non-slip or that they do not slip. For altitude sickness you can try a good coca leaf tea.
