Zorritos Perú 

One of the best places to visit for surfing pipes in Peru 

The Zorritos district is one of the three that make up the province of Contralmirante Villar located in the department of Tumbes in Northern Peru. It limits to the north and west with the Gulf of Guayaquil (Pacific Ocean); to the east with the province of Tumbes; to the south with the Casitas district; and to the southwest with the district of Canoas de Punta Sal.

 

History The district was created on November 25, 1942 by Law No. 9667, in the first government of President Manuel Prado Ugarteche.

 

Geography It has an area of ​​644.52 km². The capital of the district is the town of Zorritos which, in turn, is also the capital of the province of Contralmirante Villar.1​ Demography Population According to the 2007 census, the district has a population of 10,252 inhabitants.

 

​Religion According to data from the 2007 census, 84% of the district's population is Catholic, 10% are members of an evangelical church, 3% say they do not profess any religion, while 3% say they profess some other belief. In the case of Catholics, from the hierarchical point of view of the Catholic Church, they are part of the Foreign Vicariate of Tumbes of the archdiocese of Piura.

The History

The history of Zorritos, in the department of Tumbes, Peru, dates back to the time when the area was full of foxes. The name Zorritos comes from the abundance of packs of foxes that lived in the area.
